This event targets those who are new to fox hunting and want to learn more about this exciting sport. We welcome and accommodate riders at all levels.

Program
The morning begins with a lecture covering all aspects of foxhunting, including a brief history, rules, etiquette, and an explanation of Drag Hunting.
We discuss proper attire for horses and riders. We explain the staff positions of Master, Huntsman, Whipper-In, Wheel Whips, Fieldmasters, and the fox. We explain how to ride in a hunt to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all participants – the hounds, horses, riders as well as spectators and guests.
The session then continues with the mounted part where riders are able to practice the field exercises they would use on a hunt. Once everyone has the basics and feels comfortable, we will go on a short mock fox hunt. Those, who wish may also take a few jumps.
Attire
Tall boots and hard hats required.
Riders should wear light-colored breeches and a white shirt. Short-sleeves are OK; it can be still quite hot in early September.
Others
Coggins test and a proof of rabies vaccination must be available to the officers at the registration desk.
